Biography
Panos Kratimenos is an archaeologist whose research has focused on a range of topics including mortuary practices and bioarchaeology; maps, map-making and cartographic practice; archaeological theory and the contemporary relevance of archaeological research; and photogrammetry and 3D modelling techniques. He was awarded a Ph.D. from the University College London Institute of Archaeology for a study focusing on the emergence and spread of atypical mortuary pathways in the eastern Maya lowlands around the time of the so-called Classic Maya ‘Collapse’, particularly at the site of Marco Gonzalez in Belize where he serves as field director. As part of the DiverseNile project, he will be working primarily on Work Package 4, exploring the complex social and cultural interactions which emerged in the research area through the prism of drone imagery, settlement patterns, landscape approaches and theoretical perspectives.
